Allegation 60: The Catch-All Allegation
An injurious environment standard of neglect has always been a slippery slope toward unnecessary parent and child separation. Being the least definitive allegation among the 80 allegations available to the DCFS investigator, provides for the promulgation of implicit biases from DCFS investigators and the Judges who hear their shelter care petitions. Allegation 60 is still the Catch-All Allegation, and remains the most widely used cause for parent and child separation.
