The Imprint is an independent daily news outlet focused on the nation’s child welfare and youth justice systems. Since 2013, Imprint reporters have produced rigorous, in-depth reporting on the courts that process these children, youth and families; the agencies paid to serve them; and the housing, economic, mental health and educational issues they face.
We are Building a multi-year, multi state, grassroots effort top preserve the dignity of our families by dismantling the unjust and racist policies that separate us, as as the Adoption and Safe Families Act (ASFA). These policies have provided unprecedented federal money to states to speed up the permanent dissolution of families through termination of parental rights and adoption.

In the fall of 1991, experts in the field held a conference at Harvard Law School to organize a new group to take the case for child protection reform to the public. The National Coalition for Child Protection Reform is the result of that conference. We are committed to seeking comprehensive change in the child protective system. We do not seek this change because the system hurts parents. We seek this change because the system hurts children. Our hope is to turn the public monologue about child abuse into a dialogue.
